Watchmen, and Romeo und Julia too

Yeah. I liked Ozymandias when he first showed up. Turns out he's my favorite character. And he doesn't die. What were the chances? Rather grim ending for him anyway though. Grim ending all around in general.
Really curious who they cast for Ozy in the movie now. Should go check.
Anyhow, watching Romeo und Julia (actually compiling a single html file with the translations so I'm not constantly opening up new pages, so I'm just skipping to the songs, but the point remains), and I've finally figured out why I'm not a raging Lukas Perman fangirl. See, despite being just so pretty, a great tenor, a phenomenal actor, etc etc, he just fails at that stage presence. Maybe it's different in person, but in the vids, he doesn't have the charisma to command my attention. I mean, he seriously doesn't have any at all. There's no force there, which sucks because he's otherwise an amazing, amazing actor.
Also, I'm torn on whether or not I hate how Marjan Shaki plays Julia. I'm pretty sure I do, but it's hard to say since 1) I hate sopranos, and 2) Jesus, her songs suck. She does fine acting-wise. Fails to impress, but not jarringly bad or anything, so that's really good enough. She has her ups and downs. Most of her downs are the craptastic songs. Seriously. Einmal, her first duet with Romeo, is the dullest thing ever, and Lukas totally outdoes her there, though that's possibly because he's got more space to work with. The duet with Romeo after that at least has better choreography. Otherwise, it's roughly the same as Einmal. The duet after that, Der Balkon, sounds pretty much the same as Einmal. The last song in Akt 1, a duet/ensemble piece, Liebe, is decent. It'd be a nice song were it, you know, not the last song in Akt 1. Since it is... it's pretty lackluster. And it still sounds like Einmal. And Einmal wasn't any good, so.
Oh, and the ball? Best waltz theme ever. Ever. Mayerling Waltz just got owned. The costumes? Fugly shit. Augh. Mine eyes!
I'm not sure what I think of Benvolio and Mercutio. Well, I like them because I love Mathias Edenborn, and I love Rasmus Borkowski, but that's not really the point. I generally don't mind what they've done to Mercutio. He's more bloodthirsty, that's all, and it really just seems like they're setting up for the duel with Tybalt later, so that's cool. On the other hand, Benvolio... got hit with the Open To Interpretation bat. I think I like it. Actually, I think I love it. He's not really a pacifist by any means, but he is seen attempting to pull Mercutio away from Tybalt, though he's doing more fighting than Mercutio in the fight scenes (though that's likely because Merc is too busy taunting Tybalt to actually do anything else). He's also kind of a goofball. At first I felt like that really toed the line between him and Mercutio, but he's really just a goofball. Mercutio is a total jackass. Given a bit of time, that becomes pretty clear. They're both constantly picking up chicks, but they're foils to Romeo, so that's fine by me. Kinda odd to see Benvolio going about that, but it's an interesting take on the character.
And really now? Rasmus Borkowski is great. Love him. So much. No clue what's up with the little white tuft of a beard he's got going on, but uh, well. I can pretend it's not there.
