blargh more major/study abroad crap
Oct. 2nd, 2009 09:14 amI'm apparently a European Studies major now. It, amazingly enough, doesn't technically require you to take any foreign languages--but it does require you to take two literature classes in a foreign language, which is a rather amusing way of claiming your major only requires 13 courses (if they'd included two years of a language, it'd be 17 courses for the major, which would be insane). In any case, I have zero credits counting to the major right now. On the upside, the program's very open to study abroad programs, and I'm not worried about getting major credit for study abroad courses at least.
So one week later, I finally get an email back from the study abroad dean about the Central European University program, though by now I'd already been happy with the already approved program to Corvinus. I know the CEU program's supposed to be quite prestigious, though it's all in English with no concern for immersion, and apparently one of my professor's students came back from a year there with worse Hungarian--yet she still highly recommends the program, so I don't know what to make of that. On a purely fangirl level: I wonder which one's closer to the Operettszinhaz. ...Or at least closer to a convenient bus/underground route.
For anyone that missed the edit:
jajistenem is up and running. I hope to finish up chapter 2 today (so two more classes [that I took crappy notes for, so sorry in advance], homework exercises, and the quiz).
