ASOIAF casting
Nov. 14th, 2008 03:52 amThis thread gives me so much hope.
It's nice to know that the producers give a shit what the fans think to the point of getting their ass onto the forums and saying as much. If anything, I can now trust that they won't do anything too idiotic. Here's to hoping they keep the prologue in.
Also, here's to hoping they leave Dany out of the pilot. It's actually something I'm fairly adamant about, though I can see why they'd put her in. I just think that at least for a good chunk of the series (up until Viserys is crowned), we ought to see Dany's story from a Westerosi point of view, told in bits and pieces whenever Ned and co in King's Landing discuss things. It'd also highlight Jorah's treachery for later on, which would help make her bits a little bit more interesting. When she grows into her own character, which nicely coincides to when Jorah quits the spy gig, Dany gets rights to her own scenes. Until then, no one gives a shit about her when she's so detached from the rest of the story.
Anyway, I think the prologue and the beheading should happen at the same time, cuts inbetween both as they happen with the audience finally getting a close shot of Mr. Runaway's decapitated head, which ought to tell them he was one of the characters they'd been watching. That's just how I'd do it. It connects the prologue to the current events and provides a pretty seamless transfer.
