I have been watching this video on end for the past fifteen minutes or so instead of doing my homework.

It's Kira's final laugh after he's caught and before he dies. English is my favorite, but je suis Kira amuses me like nothing else for some bizarre reason.

Toss-up between Russian and Hungarian for the worst. Russian for stilted delivery (I think his "I am Kira" line is really beautiful though), Hungarian for sounding like Goofy (and generally being all wrong, which sucks, because the rest of the Hungarian dub has been great so far).

1) Platinum Scales is badass.
2) Being stunned sucks.
3) Being dead also sucks.
4) Healing surges are good.
5) Natural 20's on a saving throw are occasionally useful.
6) Vecna's really just a healbot.
7) Orcus can be ignored.
8) Osterneth is the biggest BAMF in town.
9) There is no mound of dead bards to hide behind.

And of course...
10) Secret to a ton of damage: Oath of Enmity + Daggermaster + Follow-Up Blow + Hurricane of Blades + Two-Weapon Opening + Action Point + Blade Cascade + Violet Solitaire + Rain of Blows.  No, I never got to use this combo.  It is at least 27 attacks, maximum 39 if I crit on all MH attacks.  The next turn would involve 3 standard actions, with Hurricane of Blades recharged, and Rain of Blows too if Hurricane crits, so round 2 would be something like Hurricane of Blades + Rain of Blows + Twin Strike, which is at least another 21 attacks.

My overpowered avenger/rogue now retires to go off and have a dozen babies with a gay man.  Forth comes the normal-powered sorcerer|bard who will apparently be a gay man.

I was digging through my photobucket account and found this.  I think it needs to be shared again just for the epic awesome.

For the record, I don't care what the in-game recipe says.  It's a banana nut cake.  It looks like a banana nut cake.  To me, anyway.  The chocolate frosting is mixed with shredded coconut and diced almonds.  That's eight maraschino cheries on a bed of (admittedly far too big a bed) of cream-cheese frosting.  I'm always confused when people put six strawberries on whipped cream instead, because that's just weird.

As a heads up for the future, if any of you on my FL are downloading games to install, when you check to make sure you have the system reqs, really check to make sure you have the system reqs.  If you need to upgrade anything, do that while you're downloading the 8.7gb monster, not after.

I need to go to the Apple Store tomorrow to buy an OS upgrade tomorrow, but I swear I will start playing this game eventually.

Apparently, today, after spending $42 on Wicked tickets, $70 for cookware/cutlery, $35 for more cookware, $40 for condiments (yes, I somehow went grocery shopping and bought no real food), I still felt the urge to bust out another $70 on Urban Outfitters' online clearance sale.

So, uh, my don't spend money on useless crap resolution lasted roughly two weeks.  To be generous, I believe I'm actually on the third week, and if you round up from three weeks, you could say it lasted a month.  ...That'd be being very, very generous though.

(I actually needed new flip flops since I broke the last, and a belt was on my shopping list for forever, plus it's getting cold and I could definitely use another sweatshirt and sweater [current sweater count: 2; sweatshirt count: 0], but... I don't know what the hat's for.  I just thought it was cute)

My room is such a mess that I have a hard time walking through it.  For those of you that know I use half my bed as, like, an extra shelf/desk to put things on, well, I'm having a hard time getting out of bed without hurting myself.

I should do something about that.

Quick book rec: Dead Men's Boots by Mike Carey, which is third in a series, so I have to rec up The Devil You Know and The Vicious Circle. They're good fun too anyhow. It's essentially a detective series (the main character's an exorcist, but the mystery-solving's still there) set in AU London where the dead have decided to come back and hang out. Lots of fun to read. While I don't think Neil Gaiman's talent translated so well from comics to novels, Mike Carey's novels are brilliantly reminiscent of his comics--and his Lucifer was nearly as good as Sandman.

The new GI Bill is awesome, even if it's hell made of paperwork to file for.  I had assumed it'd just give me about $10k/year for my tuition, or whatever the equivalent of attending UMCP would've been.  Turns out it's a lot more than that.  I only have an estimate here, but my government will (potentially) be paying $970/credit and $3,457 to the school for my tuition (which covers my whole tuition if I take 18 credits instead of 15), and then handing me an additional annual $1,000 to pay for books... and another $2,777/month housing stipend.

In other news, my room now has cable.  Now I can use my TV for something other than videogames.  Woot.

Also, my animal personality is apparently either a Rooster or a Weasel.  (Or maybe a Zebra, according to them, but I read that one, and I'm not.)  The latter is particularly unflattering. :)

So for some reason, after refusing to work during my first week in China, LJ is now functioning. I don't know why, but I ain't complaining. I also just read through about a million LJ posts on my FL to catch up with you all. Too much text in my brain.

Cut for a massive amount of thoughts and ramblings from the past, LJ-deprived week and a half. )

Humanity sucks.

A Baltimore pastor who worked with developmentally disabled people was charged Friday with befriending a blind and disabled man in his care, then paying a hit man $50,000 in church funds for an execution so he could collect life insurance money.

Life.

So my braces decided to fuck up on me, and I performed self-orthodontistry to fix them.  Only problem is that it took me a while before, say, the pain told me something was wrong.  Now, on the upside, the right side of my mouth is healing from all the little cuts and bruises my braces gave me.  On the downside, I can't chew and/or open my mouth wide enough to eat without my jaw begging for sweet mercy.

Anyway.  it is a bit past 9PM.  I have a research paper to bullshit by tomorrow at noon.  Ideally I'm done by 3AM, which is my normal bedtime.

Also, my adviser has not yet responded to be second email bugging him about my registration key that I needed last week.

eta: It is not nearly 2AM.  I am 3 pages into this essay.  I suck.
eta2: 2:30.  Page 4.  One paragraph to write, one to finish, then slap on a concluding paragraph.  I think I am only updating to make myself feel better.  This is so going to be a B-grade paper, which sucks but whatever.  (Okay, not whatever.  I still want that 4.0)
eta3: 2:50AM.  I have hit pg5.  ...Technically.  Well, my bibliography made page 5.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles just had both a fantastic season finale and a fantastic series finale.  I hope it's not the end of the series, but if it is, they did everything right.  Amazingly enough, if they can continue on to season 3, they still did everything right.  It's pretty much a masterpiece of storytelling that functions both as a complete and true ending and as a bridge to future stories.  Well done.

My Mozart! review is so long that I'm beginning to fear that it won't fit into one LJ post.  ([livejournal.com profile] valancystar?  You have now met someone that you can point fingers at and call extremely long-winded.)

Anyhow, I'm planning another trip to Budapest.  I think I can spare a week in July possibly, but the downside to that is that I won't be working that week then, and therefore not making any money for later trips.  I don't think I've fallen so far as [livejournal.com profile] cricep that I'm measuring currency in theater tickets (I actually measure in McDonald's happy meals if you're curious), but I'd still like that extra money for theater tickets.  Sure, they're like $25 each and a week away from work would only stack up to about $500, and it all counts.  I'd like to do a Thanksgiving trip before everything turns freezing cold, but I'm also quite fond of the idea of spending something like three weeks in Budapest during my winter break.  (Exactly three weeks actually, assuming that I go there the day after Christmas and my return flight takes me directly back to school.)

I kinda want an iPhone. I'm searching for things to bug my dad about for a birthday gift that're around the $100 range, and a refurbished iPhone is $99.

Suitcase

liaku: (sziszi some like it hungarian)
I managed to zip up my suitcase.  Then I looked at the seams and the way it was shaped, and then I decided to switch to a bigger suitcase.  Now I feel like I used a suitcase that's way too big, but that's okay.  At least now I have space if I want to, say, bring home a playbill, I can do that.

I hope it really is Christopher Walken behind this twitter page.  I guess it doesn't really matter if it's fake though since it's still very amusing.

A handful of favorites:

The Pope is in Africa "reaffirming the ban on condom use." His old stuff was funnier. I don't get this new material. Too edgy for my taste.

A soldier on leave told me how much he admired me. Without really knowing me at all. We're alike that way. I hope to see him again too.

Kids were out making snow angels and I asked one what he thought angels did when it snowed. It wasn't a threatening question in my mind.

I threw a shoe at a opossum that had been making a mess of my garden for some time. I missed & the opossum just looked confused. So he won.

A man ate from a trash can while tourists clicked snapshots. I gave the guy 15 dollars & told the tourists to get the Hell out of my city.

I'm looking forward to the next time that Firefox asks me if I want to upgrade to 3.0. That way I'll know that I've lived for another hour.

The Good: After this weekend, I will have a TV.

The Bad: Because I have a new roommate.

The Ugly: Which means I need to clean up her half of the room.

So I've started watching Supernatural. I wasn't sold until the last two episodes of season 1, which were a lot of fun, not that everything before it was bad, just not spectacular--and every minor character ever kinda sucked unless their actress (very few actors) had the chops to pull off the worst character concepts ever. But anyway, the first episode of season 2 was great.

Anyhow, Season 2 episode 2 features clowns as our supernatural baddie.

I don't like clowns.

I don't like clowns at all.

Especially not killer clowns.

I thought it was due time to embed one of my favorite youtube videos ever. One of my favorite songs ever too.

I dunno. I've just been in a mood for this song today.

I am now officially on the list for potential roommates to switch into.

Now that I'd mind having a roommate again, but even so. :(  It was nice to have a lot of space to be messy in.

ETA: Currently listening to the untracked Rudolf preview audio.  The orchestra is just fucking gorgeous.  I always love VBW's orchestra, but damn.  They've outdone themselves.  Just the short prelude is hauntingly beautiful.  I wish my German were good enough to understand more than, like, one word per sentence.
